Farm Origin: 1890
The farm at 3703 Waynesville Jamestown Road, Jamestown, Ohio, has been in the family since 1950 with Jack W.W. and Floria Baker purchased the house, barns and 100 plus acres. Jack was farming with Fred Lang on a 50/50 basis on Federal Road, Xenia at that time. So, he tried keeping up with repairs, cleaning up the area, and farming both until he decided in 1961 to leave the Federal Road farm, having an auction on New Year's Day, 1962 and moving to the Jamestown farm where he continued farming for the remainder of his life. He passed on December 25, 1990.
Floria kept the farm going with the help of her two sons, Thurman and Ron, for 7 years until she decided to have an auction and sale in November 1997. The decision was made by her and their 5 children to sell off in lots and acreage, leaving the house and barns along with 14 plus acres to be sold separately. This is when Carolyn (Baker) daughter, and her husband, Alfred (Mac) McDaniel, purchased this part of the farm continuing the farming legacy of Jack. Carolyn and Alfred's son Jeff built a house next to the barn on 2.5 acres and thus became very involved in the farming and named it Creekside Hills Farm. After several years of horse boarding, Jeff decided to start the Hay Making business, cutting, raking, and baling hay for small areas around Jamestown and Greene County. The business has grown over the years and the demand for hay with horse farms, cattle, goats, etc. has kept him busy.
Ron, Carolyn's brother, and Ron's son Chad, also were very involved with the farm helping where needed. Ron passed in 2015 and thus, Chad and Jeff began helping each other on the farm and Mac kept the equipment going.
